Bower and Wilkins P5 Hitting the Headphones Market
Bowers & Wilkins (or B&W as they’re sometimes known) have continued their successful march on all things audio and launched some high-end headphones that rival their now legendary Zeppelin iPod dock, for sheer style. The Bower and Wilkins P5 headphones are super-sleek, on-ear headphones that are as much about fashion and design, as they are about quality and performance.
The ear pads are unusually flat and rectangular, so look less like your typical dj headphones, and more like traditional on-ears. The styling draws some retro inspiration with a leather headband and ear padding, and metal – as opposed to the colourful plastics seen on many headphones, such as the funkier Skullcandy and iFrogz styling. They are also designed to usefully fold down when you want to keep them safe.
The sound quality is apparently exceptionally good, and these headphones can show off decent base levels even at high volumes, it’s reported. It comes with 2 different cables, a standard 3.5mm jack and an Apple in-line remote and mic cable – clearly aligning themselves with all the iPod and iPhone users who demand this kind of functionality. At around £250 the P5 is certainly not cheap, but as with their Zeppelin dock, word-of-mouth regarding quality (and of course, style) might help make these headphones very popular indeed – even if it might be too much to part with, for most.

No more worries for the headphone hoodlums of Colonial Heights
For the past 26 years almost every citizen in Colonial Heights has had involvement in the city’s secret criminal underground – with a majority being perpetrators themselves. But this crime wave is now at an end, following a change in the city’s byelaws. For now it is finally legal to use your headphones in public.
A quarter of a century ago, local lawmakers in the Virginia district deemed it an offence to run, walk, or even stand on streets or sidewalks with headphones on or in both ears. The law has remained in place ever since, although according to city Police Chief, Jeffrey W. Faries, nobody has ever been punished for wearing earphones or headphones.
However, in spite of common sense seemingly prevailing, all are not in favour of the law change. City Council member Milton Freeland voted against, highlighting the safety and security benefits of being able to hear one’s surroundings without the distraction of headphones.
